Clients’ Interviewing Process

Human Capital Alliance will discuss interview arrangements and other issues that can affect the critical interviewing process.Immediately after you have interviewed candidates, we will solicit your comments and feedback and help you conduct comparative candidate assessment and analysis.

Depending on the position to be filled, the availability of suitable candidates in the market, and various other factors, a successful search can take anywhere from a few weeks to several months.

To keep you up-to-date, Human Capital Alliance will provide you ongoing progress reports. If it becomes apparent that the search will take considerably longer than expected—or that it may not yield an acceptable range of candidates—we guarantee to inform you as soon as possible and discuss alternative courses of action.

When you become an executive search candidate, you place yourself at a certain amount of risk. As a Human Capital Alliance candidate, you are certain of the highest levels of confidentiality both from us and from our client organizations. To safeguard your confidentiality, Human Capital Alliance guarantees to:

  • Contact you directly and not through your assistant or anyone else in your company
  • Not discuss your potential candidacy with anyone without your authorization
  • Require our clients to completely safeguard your confidentiality
  • Not contact references provided by you without your explicit permission.
  • It is important to understand that you do not become a candidate until Human Capital Alliance has conducted an initial evaluation of your suitability for the position and you have expressed an interest in pursuing it.

Fullest Possible Disclosure

In order to make the right decision, you need to know as much as possible about Human Capital Alliance, about the position we are filling, and about our client organization.

We will make it clear to you whether or not we have been retained by the client to manage the appointment in question. When we are retained, we work under an exclusive contract with the client organization. This means we have not only confidential access to the client on that assignment but has their full and committed attention.

During your first conversation, when you are still being evaluated as a potential candidate for the position, we are under no obligation to divulge confidential information about the position or the client. Only after you have been identified as a potential candidate can you expect us to disclose more than just the most basic information. This will include:

  • Pertinent information regarding the client organization
  • The nature and requirements of the position
  • The compensation package
  • Even then, there are times when certain information about the client must remain confidential until the final stages of the search process.

Consistency & No Pressure

Human Capital Alliance and the client will always do their best to be on the same page in terms of the information they present to you. Keep in mind, however, that while we represent the client organization, we do not have complete control over the client’s communication with you during the process. If changes contradict any information given to you please seek immediate clarification.

The best executive search placements happen when the candidate has the time to make a measured, well thought out decision. For this reason, we will never try to hurry your decision or put undue pressure on you to accept an offer. However, we will keep you informed of any deadlines imposed by the client and the implications for not making a decision prior to those deadlines.

Regular Progress Updates

As a candidate, you are entitled to know what to expect as the search process unfolds. At Human Capital Alliance, we will make sure you are kept fully informed. For example, what is the anticipated time line for the first round of interviews? If you make the first cut, what happens next?

In particular, be prepared at any stage in the proceedings to ask, how long will this take? Whom do you have to meet with before a decision is made? What time line is the client working on? What is the next step?

The completion of an executive recruitment assignment can often take several months, with many steps between initial contact and the ultimate hiring of the successful candidate.

Once you become an active candidate, we will communicate with you in a timely manner at every step of the process. This means proactively updating you on the progress of the search as well as responding in a timely manner to any inquiries initiated by you.

If at any point in the process the client decides not to proceed with your candidacy, we will provide as complete an explanation of the client’s decision as possible.

Long-Term Trusted Advisor

Our aim at Human Capital Alliance is to develop an open and trusting, long-term relationship with you. If, at any point you feel that trust is not developing satisfactorily—with us or with the client—you would be well served to withdraw from the process.

If your candidacy does not result in a hire, Human Capital Alliance will nevertheless want to keep you in mind for future assignments. We would like to be able to contact you from time to time to maintain our relationship and keep you apprised of any upcoming assignments. We would also like to be able to tap your knowledge to identify candidates for assignments that are not a good fit for you.

Keep in mind that Human Capital Alliance does more than just fill a position for a client. We want to help you make the best decision for you, your family, and your career.

Negotiating Your Employment Agreement

If the client decides to hire you to fill the position, you have arrived at one of the most important stages of the recruitment process: negotiation of your employment agreement.

This can involve highly sensitive issues in which Human Capital Alliance can play a crucial role of intermediary to ensure open and effective communication between the client and you. Use this channel of communication to express any concerns or special requirements that you may have on terms and conditions.
